Executive Chef Carlos Luis Aponte

A practiced expert with experience spanning from coast to coast, award-winning Executive Chef Carlos Luis Aponte brings a fresh approach to Lodge On The Desert’s signature restaurant, Cielos.

Born and raised in Tucson, Arizona, Aponte’s early career took root in the New York restaurant scene, eventually working his way to Executive Chef at Neptune Restaurant and for The Holiday Inn Corporation. His passion and drive to gain gastronomical knowledge set him on a path to explore the ever-evolving regional cuisine of the United States. After amassing a sizable resume expanding across eleven cities, including Los Angeles, Aponte returned to his hometown.

Since landing back in the Tucson area, Aponte has been an integral player at some of the region’s highest awarded restaurants serving as Executive Chef at Anthony’s in the Catalinas, Charro Steak & Del Rey, and Augustin Kitchen. In his own right, Aponte has earned several prestigious accolades ranging from Wine Spectator Magazine’s Grand Award of Wine and Food Pairing to the DiRONA Award. In 1999, Aponte was formally named a AAA Four Diamond Chef.
